Quarter Midget Racing with Madeline Murray

DRIVER BIO

Madeline comes from a family with a strong history in racing and the automotive industry. Both her paternal grandfather and father started racing go-karts at a young age and graduated to cars, winning many races along the way. Her maternal grandfather was a test driver for many years. Madeline's father, who is also her quarter midget handler and has been NCQMA's Race Director and Tech Director, has been employed by various NASCAR Cup teams over the past 18 years, including the last 13 years as an engine builder with Dale Earnhardt, Inc., and now Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines. In 2006, he also started his own quarter midget engine building business, appropriately named POWER by Murray Performance.

Madeline has literally grown up at the race track. Her brother, Alex, started racing quarter midgets when Madeline was only 1 year old, so she has been there every weekend to cheer him on, make her own friends, and learn about many aspects of racing.  Madeline has traveled many miles with her family as they've raced at tracks as far north as Connecticut and New York and as far south as Florida.

Madeline began her racing career in the Spring of 2009, two days after she turned five years old.  She won her first race on June 13th, set a track record at NCQMA, and participated in her first Grand National event.

In 2010, Madeline began racing in the competitive classes, Jr. Honda and Jr. Animal. She raced locally and traveled with her family, racing on concrete, asphalt, and dirt tracks. Madeline achieved her goal for 2011 by winning her first Jr. Honda race.

Madeline continues to excel in team gymnastics and play community sports. She loves to swim, ride her bike and skateboard,  play board games and UNO, read, write books, draw,  play school, listen to music, and help her mom bake cookies.
